... a lot every month when we have breakfast. They answer all sorts of questions and ask us, the citizens of Breckenridge, our thoughts. It is a superb forum for connecting. That's John Warner, our Mayor on the right, then Nancy Morgan, a citizen in the middle and Alton Scales, the CEO Of CO Mtn College in Summit County. Today's breakfast was very informative as usual.
Tim Gagen, our Town Manager is always ready with answers. He knows each month I will ask about tax revenue as compare to the previous year.
- Sales tax was down 20% in December '08 as compared to '07 (a big 'hit' for the town's revenue)
-
The transfer tax (which comes only from the sale of real estate) in the 1st 7 weeks of '09 was down 70% as compared to '08.
My statistics are different. Here is what is happening with sales for Daniel Webster Johnson: 1) 2008 was my best year ever. 2) 2009 is ahead of 2008. One of my 'secrets' - I am working 3 times hard than in the past. And that is just fine with me.
